| City Airport Visitors who prefer traveling by plane will appreciate the Sandusky City Airport. Providing a safe and convenient environment for air travel in the thumb area and beyond. The Airport, which is located 2.5 miles north of the city is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The airport is in the midst of a 5 year renovation project, which includes a new runway, taxiways, land acquisition, hangar construction, runway lighting, instrument approach, as well as a new terminal building. | Department of Public Works The Department of Public Works (DPW) operates and maintains the City’s water systems, handles street maintenance, repair, and cleaning. Snow removal, leaf and brush pick-up are also administered by the DPW. Our goal is to provide quality services to the Sandusky community with pride, courtesy, and commitment. | Finance Department The Finance Department deals with the short and long term financing of the City Council's operations, both of a revenue and capital nature. This involves the monitoring and control of income and expenditure in all areas. The Department also ensures that the Sandusky City Council complies with the statutory and financial accounting principals which apply to all money paid to or by the City Council. | Waste Water Treatment Plant The Wastewater Treatment Plant removes waste from sewage. The sewage comes from homes, stores and industries located in the City of Sandusky and parts of Watertown Township. The solids (sludge) removed from the wastewater are treated and then put on area farm fields and disposed at the county landfill. More information on sewer, water and other utility information can be found on our Business Page.
